Dr Mayada Banaja is a renowned consultant psychiatrist, psychotherapist, couple and family therapist, and group therapist. She previously worked at King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz University Hospital (KAAUH) as a program director of the Saudi board of Psychiatry. Dr Banaja completed her MBBS in Medicine and Surgery from King Saudi University in 1996 and received her Saudi Specialty Certificate and Arab Board Certificate in Psychiatry in 2001.
She completed her Fellowship in Family Systemic Therapy from Centre Moncaeu, Paris, France, in 2006-2007, and earned her CGPT “Certified group psychotherapist” from The American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) in 2008. She also completed her Diploma of Methods and Practices of Psychotherapy and Sociotherapy from the Faculty of Medicine, Paris, France, in 2006-2007.
Dr Banaja has extensive clinical experience in general psychiatry, liaison psychiatry, clinical psychology, addiction, forensic, and child psychiatry. She has worked in different hospitals, including King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh Military Hospital, Al-Amal Medical Complex, and Taif Mental Health Hospital. She is involved in teaching Saudi board lectures and supervising residents, and has been an examiner for the Saudi Board exam.
She has also conducted several training programs, including a diploma of CBT in Riyadh at King Saud University, and a diploma of CBT in Jeddah at Specialist Hospital.
